Northern Michigan Watercolors

Through the art of transparent watercolor, Kelly Wesner captures the scenes surrounding Charlevoix Michigan and her home near the Jordan River Valley. Sailboats at anchor on Lake Charlevoix, people canoing the Jordan River, cottages on Walloon Lake, the boulder strewn shoreline of Lake Michigan, and magnificent florals are examples of her favorite subjects.
It is the quiet nature of Northern Michigan that inspires so many to leave their fast pace blues behind and head "Up North" to find the state of calm which brings them back to center. By living in East Jordan, Michigan, ("Up North"), I have the opportunity to capture this environment and create watercolor images that reflect its essence. I observe seagulls examining their reflections and playfully soaring in the wind, horses grazing in their pastures, outdoor enthusiasts canoing the Jordan River early in the morning, and architectural landmarks that take me to another place in time. It is my pleasure and duty to share these images with others.
